I agree, that could certainly be confusing.  I don't work for gumstix,
so I can't really comment as to why it is setup the way it is.

I'd go with gumstix.net.  As I said, gumstix is focusing on OE as a
build system so in my mind it make the most sense to start with that,
especially if you don't have previous buildroot experience.
