Thanks a million for your reply I was actually thinking in terms of 
ad-hoc mode but the USB route might be the way to go. I'll have to find 
out some more about Madwifi driver and see if I can't find a USB with a 
chipset it likes.

To be honest although I use Wifi all the time, don't we all, I'm not at 
all sure of the technicalities. I'll go and find out about AP Mode.
