Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] Setting up GPRS on Gumstix Ok,... 1st u have to create a ppp script into /etc/ppp/peers let say we call gprs The port were you are connecting to your modem should be ttyS0 or something similar. Let assume is ttyS0 know an example of the gprs file could be: ------------------------------------------------- noipdefault /dev/ttyS0 115200 crtscts defaultroute connect '/usr/sbin/chat -e -f /etc/ppp/gprs1.chat' ------------------------------------------------- See that the modem support 115200 baud speed. And see that chat is called to do the context activation. So, if you do not have chat into /usr/bin/chat you have to get it and put into gumstix. know .. the chat script "gprs1.chat" could be something like this ------------------------------------------------- ABORT ERROR '' AT+FCLASS=0 OK AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.ctimovil.com.uy","0.0.0.0",0,0 OK AT+CGQMIN=1,0,0,0,0,0 OK ATD*99***1# CONNECT '' SAY "Connected" ------------------------------------------------- note that my GPRS asp name is internet.ctimovil.com.uy, you have to know it, and, if it is the case, you have to put user and password were 0 appears on AT+CGDCONT Know you could launch your ppp script with yo@yomismo-desktop:~$ pppd call gprs1 and see the status of your ppp connection with yo@yomismo-desktop:~$ plog Then you must see something like ttyS0 <--->ppp0 I didnt remember at all. So you are connected, but you should redirect all your internet packets to this interface....its supposed to do automatically with the defaultroute but, for me not, so do yo@yomismo-desktop:~$ ifconfig and get the ip of your gateway gprs provider. And then you redirect all the traffic to your gateway by doing yo@yomismo-desktop:~$route add -net 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 gw (ipofyourgprsprovider) Then you can edit with vi /etc/resolv.conf and set nameserver with a free DNS server... (look at google the ip of a free dns provider) Know your are fully connected... try pinging to www.google.com and test it.. The following is get a ftp client to connect to ftp. Hope to be useful.
