How are you guys physically attaching a standard webcam (with a USB-A connector) to the Verdex's mini-B connector? I suppose you take the webcam with its USB-A connector and attach it thru a gender changer to a USB-A to mini-b conversion cable and you got it. But then you have several feet (and several ounces) of cable. I really want about a half an inch of cable (so as to cut weight). Can I cut the cables and solder in a mini-B connector about a half inch from the webcam? USB2 cables (and my webcams) have a RF choke in them (its a small barrel molded into the cable) - do I need to keep that in the cable? Is it relavent if the Verdex uses USB2 (does it?) Because I am shortening the cable, do I still need the RF choke? I would love to get rid of the choke, not just because its the heaviest part of the cable, but its also several feet of cable away from the webcam. I know that USB has four connectors (Voltage, Ground, Data In and Data out) - so is it as easy as just cutting off the old USB-A connector and attaching in the mini-B? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/USB-cable-questions-concerning-Verdex-tp14611102p14611102.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
