If you're using a recent buildroot, the patches are no longer required. Did you fetch the sources from svn? The gumstix-buildroot directory is not a fixed name, just the common one that most people use. Use: svn co http://svn.gumstix.com/gumstix-buildroot/trunk gumstix-buildroot to fetch the sources.
