ISSUE #1: I received my xm4 and netmicro-sd. At an anti-static workstation, I carefully connected the two boards together, following the instructions of where to press when connecting. I first applied power without connecting the ethernet cable. The 02 LED on the netmicro-sd illuminated immediately. the 01 LED did not. I powered down and connected a known good ethernet cable to the netmicro-sd. the cable connects to a switch that has a working DHCP server. I powered back up. the 02 LED illuminated immediately and the 01 LED stayed dark. The link status light on the switch did not come on. I tried 2 other cables to no effect. I then connected the cable to a 100baseT hub (instead of the switch) and tried again. The link status light on the hub did not illuminate and the LED's on the board stayed the same, 02 on and 01 off. I monitored the connection thru the hub with Wireshark and did not see any DHCP traffic. I did a ping sweep of the entire subnet and did not get a response from the board. unfortunately I do not yet have the serial console board because it was back ordered, so I cannot tell if the motherboard is booting at all. I expected the link lights on the netmicro-sd to respond properly even if the board did not boot, since they are controlled by the LAN chip. I could be wrong there. It appears either the ethernet board or the motherboard has a problem. I would wait until I received the console board, except that if it takes too long the 30 day warranty will expire. Is there anything I am missing? The support faq is a little ambiguous about the ethernet. One says that the ethernet adapter is enabled by default on boot, but another says you must do 'ifconfig eth0 up' to enable the port (and the LED's). Is the described behavior normal, or should I assume a hardware problem? ISSUE #2 I purchased the wifi-module-FCC. The web site description says "**** this product comes with one wifi antenna. ". however I only got the module and no antenna. Should I just contact sales about this? thanks -- dave howard dm...@gm... |
