I had sent this earlier, but have had no responses. My email inbox is misbehaving, so not sure if it reached the list. Any pointers will be welcome Also, in general, are there any instructions for adding optional packages other than compiling the entire kernel/image afresh after enabling those packages ? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2007 18:57:16 -0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) To: gum...@li... Folks I want to be able to the use the libpcap library and iptables to set the appropriate "mangle" rules to trap packets and send them directly to user space instead of via the kernel where the UDP/IP headers will be stripped http://docwiki.gumstix.org/Software states that iptables, libpcap can be added via "buildroot". Do I have to recompile the entire kernel to add these two ? I am satisfied with whatever the kernel has and don't want to break it. I just want to add these two packages as well as libpcap-devel (to be able to write a user level program) to process the packets Can I compile these two and then copy them over ? Currently, the BR2_TARGET_LIBPCAP and BR2_TARGET_IPTABLES are both "not set" Or do I have to compile the entire source with these two enabled ? I would really prefer not having to recompile and reload the entire kernel Any pointers will be welcome Thanks in advance.. Vikram |
