If you double-check your diagram you should see polarity on the capacitors - that means electrolytic. Put .1uf electrolytics in your circuit and you should be OK. =20 ___________________ Michael D. Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] TTL to RS232 converter =20 No I didn;t use electrolyis caps. I just realized that I have .01 uF caps. The diagram requires .1 uF or 1 uF. Thats likely my problem. I did have a diagram that showed .01 uF but I cannot find it now. I ordered 2 of the devices from sparkfun for now. =20 My voltage is coming from a DC to DC converter. I have a Mean Well SKE15A-05 converter which I can either feed with a 11.2 LiPo battery or 12 V suply from the wall. It gives a constant 5V. I double checked it anyways and I do have 5 volts. This feeds my gumstix and XPress Ethernet bridge as well. =20 =20 ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Black, Michael <mailto:Michael.Black@EssexCorp.com> =20 To: General mailing list for gumstix users. <mailto:gum...@li...> =20 Sent: Monday, July 30, 2007 5:26 PM Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] TTL to RS232 converter =20 What's your power supply? I assume you did use electrolytic capacitors? Do you indeed have 5V at pin 16? =20 Sounds suspiciouslyi like your capacitors are wrong somehow. =20 Can you post a schematic of what you did and maybe a picture too? =20 ___________________ Michael D.
