Hello, The serial-over-USB is working perfectly on the Gumstix but you need the appropriate driver for your USB-to-serial chip. Linux supports a lot of these devices, a few that I own & use are TUSB3410, CP210x, FTDI... You need to compile the driver(s) by doing a: make menuconfig in the linux directory of the buildroot, then in "device drivers" > "usb" there should be a lot of options (sorry if I can't recall the exact path), look for "usb to serial converter" and enable the drivers you'd like to be compiled in the sub-menu. And that's it, after the reflashing the Gumstix should load the appropriate driver automatically and a "ttyUSBx" should be in /dev/ when you plug-in the USB serial device. Hope this helps, Julien. |
