Looks to me like your hyperterminal baud rate is wrong. A typical garbage look to wrong baud/rate and/or stop-bit and/or parity. ___________________ Michael D. Subject: [Gumstix-users] Problem connecting on Serial Port =20 Hi, I have a gumstix basix 400xm-bt and a tweener. I recently took it out of storage and tried to connect to it via serial but am having a strange problem. When I open the connection to COM9 (which is where the gumstix is connected via a USB-serial cable) all I get it garbage. I have tried pressing the reset button and it seems to be booting up, but the characters that appear are not english, just a random stream. I'm pretty sure I get to the login prompt because if I press enter, a random sequence of characters appear (which I figure says "gumstix login:"). I tested the serial cable by using a loopback terminator at the end and there is nothing wrong w/ the cable (i can type characters and it is echoed back). Any ideas as to what this problem could be?=20 BTW, I can connect to the gumstix just fine over bluetooth. Also, I used to be able to connect via serial last year (before i put it into storage). And yes, I have double-checked my connection settings and they match that of the tutorial at the gumstix support site.=20 Also, here is what I'm seeing on the screen in hyperterminal after I press the reset button on the gumstix: http://www.theslinky.com/gumstix_ht1.jpg=20 -sridhar =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 =20 This electronic message and any files transmitted with it contain = information which may be privileged and/or proprietary.
