Okay, the adventure continues :-) With this help, I've now got a mostly-working network connection. Mostly-working means if I turn off WEP encryption on my router, it works fine, but with it on, it doesn't work. I've made the following additions to my interfaces file: auto rausb0 iface rausb0 inet dhcp pre-up /sbin/iwconfig $IFACE key XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key open pre-up /sbin/iwconfig $IFACE essid WIRED=20 The X's are replaced by the 26-character hex WEP key. So, if I remove the first pre-up line, and turn off WEP on the router, everything works fine. With it like this, when I issue: # ifup rausb0 udhcpc (v0.9.9-pre) started Nothing to flush. RT25usb Driver version 2.0.8=20 #=20 The Link light comes on, the Activity light flashes, and then they both = go out. # ifconfig rausb0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:5B:6E:B6:2E =20 inet6 addr: fe80::219:5bff:fe6e:b62e/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:153 errors:4 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:173 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000=20 RX bytes:2915694 (2.7 MiB) TX bytes:266780 (260.5 KiB) When I turn off WEP, I get this: # ifconfig rausb0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:5B:6E:B6:2E =20 inet addr:192.168.1.104 Bcast:0.0.0.0 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::219:5bff:fe6e:b62e/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:17 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:30 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000=20 RX bytes:327284 (319.6 KiB) TX bytes:9578 (9.3 KiB) Am I missing something stupid?
