Samuel, Try setting the options with one call to iwconfig and connecting with a second call to iwconfig. Something like this: iwconfig mwlan0 rate 54M txpower 100mW iwconfig mwlan0 essid any for example. I found that it won't work to set options or keys in the same invocation as the connect with essid. Not sure if this is the problem you are having, but it caused me trouble until I figured it out. -mike On 3/22/07, Samuel Hangou=EBt <sha...@si...> wrote: > > Hi all, > > It seems I'm not alone to encounter some problems with Wifi. > > Here is my config : > > connex 400xm + waysmall STUART + Wifistix CF EU (without any CF inserted)= , > reflashed with revision 1327. > > After having trying WPA in vain, I configured my AP without any key > (open mode =3D no secure) : > > # cat /etc/network/interface : > > auto lo > iface lo inet loopback > > iface wlan0 inet dhcp > > auto mwlan0 > iface mwlan0 inet dhcp > pre-up /sbin/iwconfig mwlan0 essid Livebox-8D10 txpower 100mW > > # iwlist scan > lo Interface doesn't support scanning. > > mwlan0 Scan completed : > Cell 01 - Address: 00:16:CF:C5:4B:F4 > ESSID:"Livebox-8D10" > Mode:Managed > Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1) > Quality:0/10 Signal level=3D-22 dBm Noise level=3D-= 96 > dBm > Encryption key:off > Bit Rates:48 Mb/s > > > # iwconfig > lo no wireless extensions. > > mwlan0 MRVL-CF8385 ESSID:"" Nickname:"" > Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated > Bit Rate:1 Mb/s Tx-Power=3D18 dBm > Retry limit:8 RTS thr=3D2347 B Fragment thr=3D2346 B > Encryption key:off > Power Management:off > Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 > Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:185 > Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 > > # iwconfig mwlan0 essid any txpower 100mW > Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) : > SET failed on device mwlan0 ; Network is down. > > # iwconfig mwlan0 essid "Livebox-8D10" txpower 100mW > Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) : > SET failed on device mwlan0 ; Network is unreachable. > > I noticed this line in the iwlist command output : > Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 > > but I'm just close to the access point, so... > > Do you think my wifistix has a harware problem ? > > Thanks for your help. > > Samuel > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Take Surveys.
