Hi Raymond, Do you have serial access to your gumstix? The tftp stuff the wiki describes is done through a seial connection on the console in u-boot. If you don't have access to the console, you won't be able to reflash that way. If ethernet is your only way to connect to your gumstix you can reflash the filesystem (and u-boot for that matter) from within linux. I use the procedure described here http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.gumstix.general/8544/match=flashcp every time I do a rootfs re-flash and it works great, just make sure you read the warning about u-boot - specifically, if you are running a really old rootfs (not sure of the revision numbers) you will have to re-flash a new u-boot also because the u-boot environment variables changed. You will also have to make sure the rootfs you build is padded to the full size of your gumstix flash (either 4mb or 16mb). There is a section in in the menuconfig I believe under target options that is something like 'pad jffs2 image' that you can use to pad out the rootfs image. Note that you can't use both the jffs2 pad option and the 'use sumtool' option or the build will fail, so make sure the sumtool option is not selected. You can definately brick your gumstix using this procedure, so make sure you really pay attention to what you are doing if you go this route. There are a number of threads in the list archives dealing with flashing over ethernet... just do a search on flashcp and you'll find them. Hope this helps, Chris On 8/26/06, Raymond Blum <ra...@ra...> wrote: > Hi > I've been through the flashing Wiki pages and am stumped.
