Hi Miguel, > So, the tweener has just one TTYSx, wich is the console right?? Or is the= re > another tty? I ask this cause, since u said that the tweener had a > level-shifter, then I may use this to interface directly some serial > devices. The tweener only has the console. But the chip on the tweener board has level converters for another pair of lines, so you could solder on some wires (requires good soldering skills and a good soldering iron). > I need to controll over 12 servos, so that is why Im using this servo > controller. > Since this controller has a TTL "level", the I might be able to > connect directly to a port on the gumstix/robostix, right? . Then wich po= rt > it is?? It depends. Some GPS units advertise themselves as TTL level, which means that they use 0v and 5v, but they're still logically inverted from logic-level serial. Do you have any more information on the device in question? If you can connect it directly to a PC, then the same interface CAN'T be used to go directly to the robostix. Some devices are configurable and have jumpers and a different place to connect things for RS-232 levels verus logic-level signals. > If I connect to a ttsy on the robostix, then I=B4ll have to program the > robostix to use this port, or I can access directly from the gumstix, > trought /dev/ttySx? The robostix brings out the FFUART (ttyS0) and STUART (ttyS2) pins as logic-level pins. These go through 5v to 3.3v voltage converters and then directly to the gumstix. --=20 Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
