In regard to my previous message, I found the solution to the buildroot problem in the Gumstix forums: http://www.gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?comments_parentId=1818&topics_threshold=0&topics_offset=2&topics_sort_mode=lastPost_desc&topics_find=&forumId=3 I successfully created the buildroot (SVN 1061) with hostap, hotplug, pcmcia, and wtools. However, WiFi still does not work. When the Gumstix is booting, I see this message: Starting PCMCIA services: cardmgr[215]: no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices Performing 'cat /proc/devices' yeilds the following: Character devices: 1 mem 4 ttyS 5 /dev/tty 5 /dev/console 5 /dev/ptmx 10 misc 90 mtd 128 ptm 136 pts Block devices: 31 mtdblock On the "out of the box" Gumstix with an approximately 1 year old buildroot the character devices includes "254 pcmcia". This is clearly missing on the 1061 buildroot. Is the missing device supposed to be inserted on startup or do these devices get created in the buildroot? I'm out of element in trying to debug this problem -- any help would be greatly appreciated. The results were not pleasing. I reverted to a "fresh out >of the box" Gumstix and tried the same changes and it worked perfectly >(same >WiFi card immediately connected to an access point).
