The reason that stuff generally doesn't work in "up" lines which requires actually talking on the newly brought-up interface is that the link layer is up, but DHCP hasn't set up the IP layer yet. Maybe there's some odd delay happening on the host side, and what you need is to have a line like: iface usb0 inet static # All your static config stuff here up sleep 10;ntpdate 1.pool.ntp.org That way you let the host take 10 seconds to stabilize things and be ready to swap IP packets before you try talking. -- I was thinking about the same thing ... that will probably freeze the boot process for 10 seconds though, right ? |
