OK I=92ve had a multimeter on the cable which is attached to my host=85I = have found 2 pins (one with +9ish V and one with -9ish V). Im not entirely = sure which pins I should be checking though as I couldn=92t tell from the = schematic on http://www.gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=3DUART_Schematics = . I=92m guessing this means the cable is ok=85is there anything I can do = to try and test the STUART board? =20 Dave =20 _____ =20 From: gum...@li... If you have a voltmeter/oscilloscope you can check the voltage = level on the pin in question by connecting it to your host, running Hyperterm = or whatnot, and leaving the other end unplugged. Probe the pins on what = would be the gumstix end of the cable, and the gumstix's Rx/host Tx should not = be GND, it should have a voltage as long as you're not transmitting from = the host. If you're transmitting, it should be wobbling accordingly. =20 If the cable is good, let me know, and we'll just mail you a replacement STUART under RMA. No need to send the one you have back if it's broken anyway; it's cheaper and easier to just give you a new one than to get = the old back. =20 C =20 On Feb 7, 2006, at 12:24 PM, David Scanlan wrote: Yes this sounds exactly the problem=85but obviously because I=92ve = =93never=94 had it running just wanted to check I wasn=92t missing anything. Sorry if this is really simple, thanks in advance.=20 =20 The behavior you're describing sounds a lot like the Rx line on the = gumstix serial port is being tied to GND, which means the gumstix is = interpreting this as a continuous "BRK" signal, which interrupts the countdown. You = then can't type anything, because the short to GND is "eating" your keypress signals. =20 C =20 |
