Just leaving that update I'd promised. > I'd try this. Allow the TX line to go through your MAX232. Leave the > RX line disconnected. Put the 10K resistor between RX and Vcc (pins 3 > & 4). If I understood you right, I performed this test -- I pulled the level shifter IC out of the socket and actually bent pin 1 (the Rx pin in question) so it wouldn't go back in the socket, but the socket (along with the Gumstix's Rx pin) was still hooked up to the 10k pullup. (And yes, I have extra ICs just in case. ;) ) It still drops it into U-Boot, so unless I misunderstood something, it seems my Breakout-GS has a hosed Rx pin. Thankfully I have a (sort of) spare, so maybe tomorrow I'll be able to hook that one up. I can only assume that something got messed up earlier when I was having trouble with the Hirose connector on the last Tweener -- the Tweener had to be replaced. Hm. So it looks like that mystery has come to a close. Thanks for the help everybody, especially you Dave H. Hopefully I won't have to post anymore about this blasted serial port! ;) -Dave |
