Hello All, I am testing running scripts on boot and I am having difficulty getting a very simple SSH connection to initiate. The etherstix is the client and can SSH to a SSHD machine in my lab using a passwordless account (for testing) called test. I have eliminated the need for key based auth so I can first verify if I can just get this to work. If I place a simple script like #!/bin/sh ssh 192.168.1.4 -l test (-T) on the device and execute it by hand it works just fine. I have been trying to understand the start-stop-daemon for a little while here and have tried a variety of different methods to run this type of basic connect on boot, but to no avail. I am coming from an FreeBSD world where I can just plop a script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d and expect it to run. I've placed variations on the above little connect script in /etc/init.d as S99sshconnect and it doesn't appear to run. At least I see no evidence of it doing so. Can someone suggest a way to run a simple ssh session on boot for me? I have perused the archives and found a few tips but each seems much more complicated than what I am trying to run. e.g. including modprobes and mounts, etc. A sample ssh script would probably help tremendously. Thanks very much for any assistance. Erik Kamerling |
