[Gumstix-users] I2C error

[gascan <gas...@ya...>]

Hi all,

       Iam a newbie to gumstix and trying to work on
i2c in gumstix. I followed all the instructions in the
I2C quickstart guide in gumstix wiki page
http://www.gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=I2CQuickstart

I could able to build root and flash it, on to gumstix
and also modprobe i2c-dev and modprobe i2c-pxa, but
when i give cat /dev/i2c-0 command, iam getting the
following error.

# cat /dev/i2c-0
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
cat: Read error: Remote I/O error

and also when i say i2cRead 44 2,( same program from
i2c quickstart wiki page)
# ./i2cRead 44 2
I2CRead system
Opened /dev/i2c-0
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
Resetting I2C Controller Unit
I2C Send 44 Failed
Addr: 44 Data: 0 0

It would be great and helpful to me if some one could
advise me. for your information my lsmod shows the
following i2c components

i2c_dev 8640 0 - Live 0xbf06c000
i2c_pxa 5116 0 - Live 0xbf069000
i2c_algo_pxa 3936 1 i2c_pxa, Live 0xbf067000

and my current linux version is 
Linux gumstix 2.6.11gum #4 Tue Oct 25 02:57:15 CDT
2005 armv5tel
