Shawn, 1. Unfortunately, I do not have a serial connection. My understanding was that I could plug in the thumbstix and go. A little simplified perspective, I know, but I was trying to keep expenses down. Unfortunately, I cannot edit the configuration and make modifications. I'll have to go with the defaults. 2. As far as setup, yes, I have installed the linux.inf file just as the instructions demonstrate. 3. On the bridge, there are 3 connections. The two that are bridged (e.g., the gumstix usbnet and the LAN), and then the bridge itself. I understand that DHCP assigns the usbnet address. Is the other connection (e.g., LAN) the one that you gave a static IP, or was it the bridge, or was it both of these? I'm thinking that you let DHCP also assign the LAN address and that the bridge itself is given a static IP. 4. Once I bridge the connections, the command "ipconfig -all" should show me all the DHCP-provided IP addresses of the connections, correct? Thanks in advance, Joe From: Shawn Fitzgerald <svfitz@ly...> Re: usbnet over XP with gumstix and thumbstix and pdf manual questions 2005-06-21 12:35 Yes you must use DHCP the first time to login, as that is the default configuration on the gumstix. If you have a Serial connection you can login to that to configure the gumstix. (However I"ve yet to configure a static setup) You must also setup the bridge in XP to make it work with DHCP (again as far as I was able to setup, YMMV). What I did was setup the bridge with a static IP in the correct subnet, then have my DHCP assign the Gumstix IP. Since I only have a small range of IP"s that DHCP hands out I know where to check. As for the USB fault when plugging in after boot, I do not have that problem. Did you setup using the Linux.INF file as documented in the Wiki? Some times I have a problem if I"m running certain other type of bridged network devices over USB. Maybe you have something similar happening? -Shawn ____________________________________________________ Yahoo! Sports Rekindle the Rivalries.
