Or something else? The > cfstix being on there should not have affected things at all. >=20 I had been seeing some strange behavior, I tried to upload an image through kermit several times before. Each time I did this, upon attempting to boot, the console would print that the kernel (or filesystem?) failed a CRC check. So, at this point, I rebuilt the default image and I prepared to flash it to the device. After building the image, as usual, I issued a "loadb a2000000" to load the image to memory, then transfered it, and then issued a "era 1:2-31".=20 Strangely, the device required confirmation because it said the memory was protected. I did not understand why it required confirmation on not the first 2 sectors, so I tried this more than once, but each time, the same thing happened. Eventually, since my system was inoperable if I did not flash the device somehow (the CRC errors), I said "protect all off" and followed the rest of the directions. Then the device would not boot at all. > you still need to get the executable code to the CPU somehow, which mean= s > JTAG if your existing bootloader in flash is hosed. =20 If I buy a JTAG, is the software that I need to do this expensive?=20 Sorry to keep bothering you, but I really can hardly afford the JTAG itself and want to make sure that If I go out on a limb and buy it that I dont need to buy some $1,000 software package.
