The problem I have with this is size, the length almost doubles and the height increases also. I just discovered a viable solution for my prototyping: using the SMT breakout AC97 signals to one of these schmartboard TQFP adapters: http://store.yahoo.net/engineeringlab/circuitboards8.html So rather than using audiostix, I'll use the LM4550 audio codec, which I can find at digikey. Digikey also has some nice headphone amps and volume/tone controls from National: http://www.national.com/appinfo/audio/ Some of those are available in DIP so easy to prototype with. One advantage of using external audio codec is having more audio inputs and outputs. The other is having access to the 3 UARTS, NSSP, I2C, and LCD ports. Now that I finally found the parts/adapters to do what I need, the gumstix store no longer has the breakout boards :( Guess I have to wait for the new version. -- Doug |
