Great work! > Here are preferences that I did not implement: > > * "Write extended information": Should default to true and I see no reason > to > unset it. If someone disagrees, please explain how it could be useful. I agree. > * "Use Multi-Edit for the title field": I see no reason to ever set this. > Why > would anyone want to set titles of multiple tracks to the same value? I disagree. It's fine to remove, but it's confusing to handle the title field differently. I already see the bug reports coming in. Therefore it should be set to "TRUE". > * Tooltips: This can be controversial, I admit. But I think they should > just > be always on. I haven't seen any other Linux application that allows > disabling tooltips. Probably true, but sometimes I wish I could just switch them off, e.g. in Microsoft's explorer: a huge tooltip appears whereever I put the mouse. > * "Auto select" main playlist/"All" record on filter tabs: I have no idea > what > this is. It may sound stupid, admittedly. I'll implement it after I learn > what these settings do. It will select the "Main playlist" and the "All" entries in the filter tabs automatically. Normally it will not select those to make gtkpod faster (displaying 3000 tracks on startup can take quite a while). > * Conversion: The user is no longer able to manually specify scripts. However, the user can still select which formats to > convert, > and select the output format (MP3 or AAC), which is a global setting for > _all_ formats eligible for conversion. I still didn't set up my "real" computer. If you mean that you can only switch on/off conversion globally I am not happy. If you let the user choose for each supported file type whether he/she wants to convert to MP3 or AAC, it already sounds better. There should be tooltips pointing to the scripts and mentioning that changes can be made there. And there should also be a possibility to add "custom options" for qualtity. > Other than that, everything is implemented in the instant-apply fashion. I'd like to see the "revert" function. Personally I like to play with the preferences in a new program, but often just press "cancel" when I'm no longer sure I make good choices...
