Seems the 'two computer' issue is a common gripe so far about the Shuffle, and this behaviour is by design, quoting from the FAQ: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300657; "Can I take a friend's iPod shuffle and browse or play its content on my machine (like I can with other iPods)?" * No, there is no manual mode that allows you to view or play the content from a friend's iPod shuffle on your computer. This also means that you cannot load music from multiple computers or iTunes libraries onto iPod shuffle like you can with other iPods. So the combination of iPod Shuffle and iTunes are designed to be strictly tied to one computer at a time. This does seem to be an iTunes 'quirk'. Perhaps using some other iPod compatible software such as EphPod on Windows or ? on a Mac, will play nicer if I want to load/unload music from more than one computer.... So beware, gtkpod users, opening your iPod Shuffle in iTunes means wiping it clean, no questions asked. B. |
