Hi all, I just put a libgpod 0.7.90 tarball on sourceforge. This is a development release toward libgpod 0.8.0. This version is API and ABI compatible with 0.7.2 (if not, it's a bug). The most notable changes in this version are support for non-jailbroken iPhones/iPod Touch and for the Nano 5G (the one with the camera). Huge thanks go to Marcan, Nikias and Martin for this support since they helped with both the libgpod support and with reverse engineering what was needed to make all of this possible. There's one gotcha though for this support, the device needs to contain a song database written by iTunes the 1st time you plug it in. Please keep in mind this is a development release so this support might be a bit rough around the edges, and please report any issue/bug/... you encounter with it either on the gtkpod-devel mailing list or on #gtkpod on Freenode. Last but not least, if you want to help the project, donations[1] (even small ones) are very welcome, this makes it possible to buy the new devices Apple release so that we can develop support for them and make sure they work properly. That's all for now, thanks for all of you who will test it (if you're not comfortable with compiling software, you should be able to find packages for the development version of your favourite distro soon), Christophe [1] https://sourceforge.net/project/project_donations.php?group_id=67873 Overview of changes in libgpod 0.7.90 ===================================== This release is API and ABI compatible with libgpod 0.7.2. It's a development release toward libgpod 0.8.0. Please report any bug or misbehaviour you may find with this release, especially with the iPhoneOS/iPod Nano 5g support. * iPhoneOS 3.x support (iPhone and iPod Touch) This requires a working libimobiledevice stack and a device initialized once by iTunes. This support is optional so make sure you have libimobiledevice development headers installed when compiling libgpod if you want to get it. libgpod HAL callout needs to be installed and working for this support to work, see README.overview for more details. * iPod Nano 5G support The device database needs to be initialized by iTunes once. libgpod HAL callout needs to be installed and working for this support to work, see README.overview for more details. * iPod Classic 3G support * fix iPod Nano 4G 4GB serial number (bgo #599772) * properly read timezone information from iPod Classic and Nano 4G * artwork writing bug fixes * iTunesDB reading bug fixes * add code sample showing how to copy a file to the iPod * export podsleuth-like information to HAL |
