It's never getting to the printf()s because it's failing in mp3_read_lame_tag(). When I added gapless support a while back, I had two bugs which just happened to mask each other. One was fixed in r2204, which then broke gapless support. The other was fixed in r2243. Problem is, gtkpod-0.99.14 was released between these two, so gapless support appears to be broken in the release version. I think you have two options. One is to use the latest code from the subversion repository. You would do this by running "svn co https://gtkpod.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gtkpod/gtkpod/trunk gtkpod", which will put the latest code into a directory called gtkpod, and you can compile from there. The other option is to apply the attached patch to your gtkpod-0.99.14 code you're working with now (put it in your gtkpod-0.99.14 directory and run "patch -p0 < gtkpod-mp3-gapless-fix.diff"). This should apply the update mentioned above in r2243. Then re-run "make" and "make install" and I think you'll be good. If you have any questions or problems, just follow up and we'll give you a hand with it.
