FYI, one of the Glade developers Tristan Van Berkom closed this bug with the following comment:
"Glade 3.6 preserves objects order in projects."

So that's the simple answer, the eventual upgrade to the next version will fix the problem.

That's it. I didn't catch what was really happening. Opening it a second time and saving it is a workaround. I filed a bug for
