I suspect a problem with your local gtk installation. Can you run the demo that comes with gtk (gtk-demo)? If yes, could you send me the output of pkg-config --list-all pkg-config --libs --cflags pangoft2 and the file mk/config.mk in the gtk2hs source tree?
