Due to the parallel review of the ST TAC system C package, GreenSocs, the open source SystemC infrastructure project, are extending the review of the SC2AST kit. The review was due to finish on the 2nd of November, this will now be extended by two weeks until the 16th of November This will enable people involved with the ST TAC review to still take part in the review of SC2AST. We have already had some valuable comments but we would like as many people as possible to review the package. This would provide us with valuable feedback as to the quality and usefulness of the package. To take part in the review please visit http://www.greensocs.com/KaSCPar/Sc2astReviewPage The SC2AST package can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php? group_id=128598&package_id=166571 best regards Darran Gaskell SC2AST Review manager dar...@gr... -- |

GreenSocs is pleased to announce the fast track peer review of ST's TAC Package, which is now available for download from greensocs: http://www.greensocs.com/TACPackage This is a FAST TRACK review as the package has already been used in a number of projects. The review shall commence on 25th of October and shall last for 1 week, completing on the 2nd of November. The ST TAC package is one of the contributions to the GreenSocs GreenBus project, please take this opportunity to add your thoughts to that project. http://www.greensocs.com/GreenBus you will find the GreenSocs formal review of TAC (which has been done for GreenBus) on the TAC package page. Please post your review comments on http://www.greensocs.com/TACPackage/PeerReview. Alternatively you can email your comments to me and I shall add them to the webpage. You may also be interested in the "full" review of SC2AST which is also happening at the moment on the greensocs site. GreenSocs, the open source SystemC infrastructure project, is pleased to announce the formal peer review of the SC2AST kit (see below). You are invited to take part in the review. The review starts today 19th of October and lasts for 14 days, until the 2nd of Novemeber. For many of you, this may be the first time you have heard about GreenSocs. Please visit www.greensocs.org for more information, and to contribute to the project. One key aspect of GreenSocs is that we will co-ordinate peer reviews of Open Source SystemC infrastructure, so, when you download something from the GreenSocs web site, you should be sure of it's level of quality. For information about the peer review process visit: http://greensocs.com/PeerReview Darran Gaskell dar...@gr... GreenSocs KaSCPar review manager. --------- SC2AST is part of the KaSCPar suite written by Flavius Copaciu. For information about the KaSCPar suite, visit: http://www.greensocs.com/KaSCPar The tool is available for download at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php? group_id=128598&package_id=166571 The documentation for SC2AST can be viewed online at http://www.greensocs.com/KaSCParDocumentation SC2AST is a tool which takes a source file (or set of source files) written in SystemC/C++ and transforms it into an Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) rendered as XML. It supports the latest version 2.1, of the SystemC syntax. Each language element from the the source files is represented by tokens in the generated AST output files. SC2AST is a part of Karlsruhe SystemC Parser Suite (KaSCPar). It is a SystemC parser supporting the latest language version with dedicated tokens for SystemC 2.1 keywords. SC2AST generates the AST of the SystemC design in XML format for easy usage and is the first phase of KaSCPar. In the second phase, SC2XML is used to create the elaborated XML description of the SystemC design representing the functional and the structural part of the design. SC2AST is useful because it provides o Full support of C++ and SystemC 2.1 o Extension of the C++ grammar by dedicated tokens for SystemC keywords o Support of multiple source files and combines them into a single unified XML file o All comments, line numbers and SystemC keywords etc are preserved in the XML AST file o Very efficient analysis of SystemC designs in combination with SC2XML It is envisaged that users will use the SC2AST package to develop higher level tools which build upon the functionality provided. Currently we are mainly interested to increase the maturity of the tool by fixing reported bugs. Potential areas for improvements are: o Implementation of improved error messages o Checking the visibility of variables/members in the current scope o Checking repeated variable definition at the same scope The download contains JavaDoc style class documentation and a suite of example C++/SystemC source files. The tool requires J2SE 5.0 and Apache Xerces2 for Java. It also uses the preprocessor of gcc in order to expand SystemC macros. -- |

I will make it clear in the download area of the web site, but you do NOT need to download the src package, JUST the binary of your choice (ok, so there is only one right now :-) ) Right now it includes gcc (for your convenience). You can give the thing an option to use a different gcc (see the makefile). Somebody has suggested that rather than incluing gcc in the bundle, the install script could look for a suitable version, and use that, or give the user the option to download it.... Advantage --- less bloated distribution Disadvantage --- longer -more dangerious- install process, and not as consistent 'version' of gcc. What do people think? Cheers Mark. |
