Great job! > We just need someone to solicit and collect the tips. I'd suggest a wiki page for tip collection. You could rig a script to redirect emails to a certain address to a tips list -- however I think the prior is much more practical as users can help to edit and improve existing tips in addition to submitting their own. Moreover this would naturally lend itself to fairly consistent tips. --- Alex Roitman <sh...@al...> wrote: > The convenience of splitting the view (I propose splitting it by the > horizontal line into two parts, one above another) is that you can > scroll each of them into different parts of the tree. Right now, in a > huge single tree, going from Adams to Zeiss is a nightmare. Even with the scrollbar (the actual bar, not the ^ v buttons)? If you have all the surnames expanded, does scrolling slow significantly? I didn't notice much if any in the 1.0.x branch (for obvious reasons) even on a 166 Mhz. I find it quite natural to click and drag the scrollbar to the desired location... Perhaps an alternative to buttons or tabs is a simple "Go to individual: " dialog, wherein you could type full names or partial (eg "foo bar", "bar, foo", "foo", or "bar") and be redirected to the first appropriate individual. If it was really desirable, it might be nice to just type your query in much the same fashion as one can find text on webpages in Mozilla merely by using the keyboard. Just a few thoughts. Lastly, on an unrelated note, I was looking over the Gramps 1.1 page and noticed that the views are now customizable. Does this include the appearance of the status bar? Granted, I do have several individuals in my family tree with the same name, but I'd still like to be able to turn off the display of the "[GrampsID]" portion. _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
