John, Thanks for your feedback! Most likely, your LANG is not set, so no locale information is available. The fallback is English, which probably works for you. > Successfully imported preferences from the 1.0.x version. > /usr/share/gramps/DbPrompter.py:185: GtkWarning: gtk_file_system_unix= _get_folder: assertion `g_path_is_absolute (filename)' failed > choose.set_current_folder(default_dir) This is strange, but anyway is coming from gnome libs, not us. As long as you can see all the files you need to see, it should not present a problem. > The one about "Date parser for None not ..." is a bit confusing. > Shouldn't these messages be coming up in a status window or pane in > the main gramps window? The fallback is using English parsing and locale-based display, with fallback again to English. This is more of a debugging output. We don't want to scare clueless users. > Edit Person: >=20 > - when entering a date in the birth field, it would make sense if > hitting Tab brought you to the Birth Place: field, instead of to the > Death Date: field. Both "new" and "select" icons are adding child to the family. The first one adds it to the database as well, while the second is adding an existing database person into the relationship. Which one should have the "plus" sign? Why that one and not the other one? Btw, "minus" only removes the person from the family, *not* from the database. So if we were to be consistent, I guess the plus would need to replace the "select" icon, but this will probably be more confusing :-) > - Can the 'minus' icon be grayed out when no child is selected? Just a thougth... Are you talking about the Family View? We will probably need to rework the whole Family view at some point. Until the complete plan is worked out, it is not worth the pain to replace one little thing here and another one there. Even though the Family View is cluttered and complicated, it works in some consistent way at the moment. Right now, we need to be able to select people in Family View *without* making them the active persons, e.g. to adjust relationships while seeing the rest of the family.
