A couple of thoughts: Usually these reports indicate spouses (the female ones) with a plus sign (+) rather than letters. Nowadays I suppose that's more tradition than anything else, but using lower case letters might conflict with some of the other (dozens) labeling schemes out there. It appears as if you have the marriage order correct, so the a, b, c convention might be redundant if the wives are in the right chronological order. Also, one normally sees these reports with vertical bars or somesuch connecting the generations because when the report gets deep (5 or 6 generations, say) it's tough to spot all the members of a family when they are spread over many pages. Personally, I find those vertical lines rather distracting, but the problem they attempt to solve is inherent in the report structure itself, and likely applies more to printed reports rather than on-screen. I'd love a copy to try out. I've been messing with the FTM-style report, and it's a lot of fun dissecting this stuff. -- Marty Cassidy Seattle, WA USA |
