You could always check out Mandrake Linux. ML9.2 has Gnome 2 as standard. Also the latest Gramps works fine in ML9.2 once the URPMI sources have been setup. I setup the ones on the PLF website, downloaded the latest Gramps and then when I installed it from the Konsole away URPMI went and downloaded / installed all the required dependencies.
