My apologies, I don't know what I was thinking when I stated that the file sizes in my initial message. It came to mind when Ken replied to my message. What I should of said was that I tested gedcoms with 2 million then 1 million individuals -- not 2 gigs and 1 gig, I actually checked the 1 million individual file and it's 350 mb. Ken, I also noticed that only a small fraction of my ram and cpu was used in the import. But I didn't think that my harddrive was working very hard... I don't have a screen monitor, like my cpu and ram, but my computers hardrive light was only blinking every 5-10 seconds.... so, don't really know what slows down the import (could it be something in gramps?). Thanks Ken for your response. Maybe I'll give the big file a try again and let it run a week or so :) -- View this message in context: http://gramps.1791082.n4.nabble.com/gramps-testing-with-very-large-files-tp4665484p4665489.html Sent from the GRAMPS - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |
