Benny, I was not confortable to re-use .hide() on widget like before[1], but I think I have a simplier solution[2]: to only add tab if the user wants it! I do not have any active SVN repository for generating the patch yet. Right now I just added modified files from 3.4.5 on http://www.gramps-project.org/bugs/view.php?id=3872 I will generate the patch soon but any test or comment could be welcome. Don't know why it disappeared actually. Used to be in the preferences I believe. To me this looks like an orthodox view. Most programs that I know, including Ancestral Quest, PAF, and RootsMagic, don't show any LDS elements on screen, unless the user really wants them to. Likewise, FamilySearch search and tree don't show LDS elements to non members either. > (2) I would suggest that the LDS tab is not about recording the religion or > other cultural affiliation of the person, since I would expect that the vast > majority of people to which the LDS apply ordinances are not affiliated with > the LDS. I suppose that if you find someone in the LDS database, then you > might want to record their ordinances as well (though I don't see where this > information appears in the familysearch.org search results). See above. Ordinance information is not shown on site, unless you are logged on as a church member. Moreover, there are lots of people outside the church who actually object to the whole ordinance thing, as they see it as a forced post mortem conversion from their (ancestors) religion to Christianity. > (3) As I pointed out in [1]: The standard way of recording religious > affiliation in Gramps is by means of an Event with event type 'Religion'. > This event type is pre-populated into the Gramps event types. Personally I would prefer to record the religious affiliation with the baptism event, and Gramps does allow that in the description, but that's not really standard gedcom. Moreover, there are no codes for religion, so information may be lost in translation somewhere. In GedcomX the situation is different, because there is a religion qualifier for facts, which seem to be interchangable with events somewhat. I haven't seen any vocabulary for this qualifier though, so at the moment there is no real standard for that, unless I missed it. regards, Enno ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Windows: Build for Windows Store. http://p.sf.net/sfu/windows-dev2dev _______________________________________________ Gramps-users mailing list Gra...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gramps-users -----La pièce jointe associée suit----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Windows: Build for Windows Store. http://p.sf.net/sfu/windows-dev2dev -----La pièce jointe associée suit----- _______________________________________________ Gramps-users mailing list Gra...@li... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gramps-users |
