When I open the Birth Event Editor and 'Event > Reference Editor' opens, there are two areas for 'Attributes'. The top > being 'Reference Information', the bottom section, 'Shared information'. > Both sections have an 'Attributes' tab. > Do I enter the birth time as an Attribute in both those areas, or which > one? And what is the difference between 'Reference information' and 'Shared > information'? > The time is part of the event, so you add it to shared information, the actual event. You see this then in the event list view also, when opening event editor. The reference information is for those cases you want to indicate what from the event is relevant for the person where the event is added. Eg, suppose you add birth event to the godfather as role: participant. You can add specific notes and references for specific information. Suppose you see an X instead of a signature, you could add attribute: signature info, value: X added I must say, personally I don't really use this myself. I rather store that via the source. So the birth certificate would be a source of the event, and things like signature would be attribute of the person, not the event, with the source connected to it as proof. Benny |
