The template system already can determine the title from the given fields. The GEP branch is not yet for actual testing, just to see which direction things are going. Remarks on GUI like this are welcome. Some good ideas will not be present because I did not think of them, some (like this) because I did not have the time yet. I would do title via a checkbox and still store it in the source object, because 1/ some people might just like to type whatever they want, and not use attributes at all 2/ what people now use as title will often be different attributes in the template system. We will store all as title. You can see this in the csv. Gedcom title is typically 3 to 4 attributes combined, so not only the TITLE field. On upgrade to 4.1, the given title will go into TITLE attribute though, so it will be consistent, but once people start using template, things will deviate ... Well, we could remove title ... . We will have to calculate quite a bit then in the listviews though to give an list of titles (parse attributes, construct title, all in memory so not the biggist issue). > I tried creating a source for a Census record, and the Title you input on > the Overview tab has no relationship to anything else in the editor. User will however be able to change the tittle from the generated one. This title will then _not_ be used the references though, only in the listview and perhaps specific source reports. On export to Gedcom, this title would only be used if the template does not provide a title.
