I have several families like that in my tree also, so I too
have encountered the problem and wondered how to solve it.
So far I've been putting in a totally-bogus "divorce" event and
marking it "private" so it won't show up in anything I release,
but I feel it is a very inelegant solution and look forward to a
better one.  The trouble with just inventing my own event
name is that the various reports won't recognize it as an
end-of-relationship event.  My family reunion (the reason
I started on gramps) is coming in mid-August and so any
GEPS solution won't be able to help me this time, I think.
