Hi Tj, It seems that the picture displayed in the Export dialog itself, is not loading due to the missing DLL. so it crashes before you get to the options. I was going to suggest you try the command line options, http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Gramps_3.0_Wiki_Manual_-_Command_Line I tried these option on the page and it didn't work, I was so disappointed. I then tried "gramps.py -- help" and saw the options have changed (3.1.2-1) and the Wikipage is out of date. (guess I can fix that when I have time) C:\Program Files\gramps>gramps.py --help Usage: gramps.py [OPTION...] --load-modules=MODULE1,MODULE2,... Dynamic modules to load Help options -?, --help Show this help message --usage Display brief usage message Application options -O, --open=FAMILY_TREE Open family tree -i, --import=FILENAME Import file -e, --export=FILENAME Export file -f, --format=FORMAT Specify format -a, --action=ACTION Specify action -p, --options=OPTIONS_STRING Specify options -d, --debug=LOGGER_NAME Enable debug logs -l List Family Trees -L List Family Tree Details -u, --force-unlock Force unlock of family tree I used gramps.py -l to list my family trees C:\Program Files\gramps>gramps.py -l List of known family trees in your database path C:\Documents and Settings\sgeorge\Application Data\gramps\grampsdb\4974f417 , with name Branch30_test C:\Documents and Settings\sgeorge\Application Data\gramps\grampsdb\499b6b1b , with name Branch31_test C:\Documents and Settings\sgeorge\Application Data\gramps\grampsdb\4afa0150 , with name Family Tree 1 C:\Documents and Settings\sgeorge\Application Data\gramps\grampsdb\49e7adcd , with name FamilyApril2009 C:\Documents and Settings\sgeorge\Application Data\gramps\grampsdb\49af5ce1 , with name FamilyMarch2009 Then used: C:\Program Files\gramps>gramps.py -O "Family Tree 1" -e test.gpkg Opened successfully! Exporting: file C:\Program Files\gramps\test.gpkg, format gpkg. Cleaning up. Exiting. The generated file was a valid gramps-package For your installation you will of course need to use gramps.exe instead of gramps.py, but there is a chance this might solve your immediate problem. I tested with Gramps 3.1.2-1 hopefully the command line stuff is working in 3.1.1 ? -- If all else fails is there objection to installing the not All-In-One package and having to install all the dependencies yourself? Good luck Steve Tj.tulley wrote: > Thanks Steve: > > I imported a fairly large gedcom into the empty database named Family Tree 1, which came with the program, in order to add some data while away from home (where I use the LinuxMint version). My ancient laptop has too little memory and disc space to cope with LinuxMint as well as Windows. > > The error appeared as soon as I clicked on Export before I could select which kind I wanted. > > My next approach will be to copy the Gramps database file itself - but where is it? In LinuxMint it would be in /home/theo/.gramps, but in Windows it isn't in the corresponding location - /program files/gramps. Search didn't find it, trying wild cards for the spaces. > > There were only 2 images in the database and I removed them, but it still produced the error message. > > Shall be most grateful for advice. > > Yours hopefully, > > Theo Tulley. > tj....@ph... > <snip> > |
