Several of us have been discussing the value of the forum site (http://forum.gramps-project.org), and are trying to decide if the site should continue to exist. The major problems that we see are: 1) Not that much usage. We are getting a handful of posts a week. 2) Spam. The site is under a constant barrage of spam, and Martin, Trevor, Alex, and I spend a fair amount of time cleaning it up. 3) Little community involvement. The same four or five of us end up answering the messages, and it seems to be yet another place to post bug reports and feature requests. So, we decided to ask the general user base if the forum site is actually worth the effort. Right now, we have: 1) Web site 2) Blog site 3) Library site 4) Bug tracker 5) gramps-bugs mailing list 6) gramps-devel mailing list 7) gramps-users mailing list 8) Sourceforge forums (which I would delete if we could) Does the forum site offer anything more than what the other sites offer, and is it worth the effort that we have to put into it? --=20 Don Allingham GRAMPS - Open Source Genealogy http://www.gramps-project.org gpg public key: http://don.allingham.org/files/don_allingham.pub |
