This weekend was the first use of my Magellan Meridian following a firmware upgrade to the latest version for my unit (4.02) and the use of a 128 meg card containing ten or so large map regions covering about 1/3 of the USA. I found the hard way that using Menu/CardUtilities/ChangeMap with about 50 waypoints loaded and several generated manually before departure and created enroute resulted in those generated ones disappearing after passing a map boundary and loading a new map region. Solution, if you need to "change maps" for safety, save waypoints to a card file before executing a map change. The behaviour is inconsistant... for example, waypoints "loaded" from a card file were not displaced by map changes, only the ones manually entered or "captured" enroute. If you have other Magellan devices with SD cards, recommend, experimenting with generating a test waypoint, then changing maps and looking to see if the waypoint survived. Beverly Howard |
