Having learned yesterday that I cannot store data from my eTrex Legend in a garmin format, I tried downloading from the gps and saving it as mapsource and later converting to gpsdrive. Should work, right? Here's the commands: gpsbabel -t -i garmin -f /dev/ttyS0 -o mapsource -F garmin.mps // download track data from a garmin and output to garmin.mps as mapsource gpsbabel -i mapsource -f garmin.mps -o gpsdrive -F 2garmin.gpsd // open a mapsource file and write out as gpsdrive Here's the problem, the format is not gpsdrive. Here's a few lines from 2garmin.gpsd: RPT001 33.09101 -96.63538 RPT002 33.09144 -96.63572 RPT003 33.09131 -96.63542 RPT004 33.09136 -96.63551 The co-ords are right but where is RPT001 coming from, or more to the point, what is it doing in a gpsdrive format file? Gpsdrive will not load the file. If I download the data directly as gpsdrive, like this: gpsbabel -t -i garmin -f /dev/ttyS0 -o gpsdrive -F garmin.gpsd then the top of the file looks like this: 33.09101 -96.63538 33.09144 -96.63572 33.09131 -96.63542 Gpsdrive will load the file. Any thoughts? Thanks // Martin |
