I am trying to use gpsbabel to read position from Garmin 178C in Garmin format 9600 baud and write to a text file. I can read the position from the GUI version so, my lash up is functional. The GUI sends notification box's which requires intervention. I need to write to a file continuously and preferably leaving only one entry in the file with each write. I just have no idea of how to communicate with gpsbabel. Do I just run the DOS windowed version and then send msg's to it from an ASCII terminal to the COM1 port? Do I paste the commands offered in DOS prompt and enter? Help! I am using Windows XP and the GPSBabel is ver. 1.3.6. I am using COM1 configured to 9600, N, 8, 1. Garmin 178C set to Garmin data transfer on COM1. Many thanks, Monty |
