I rebuilt with XP (32 bit, SP3, running in a VMWare virtual machine), and
got the exact same results, so it's probably a cygwin problem (floating
point library?), or something with my CPU. Anyway, as soon as I get my
device I'll check if all works ok. As you say, this is actually all that
needs to work for me right now ;-)

P.S. I tried to run ./testo with the original 1.6.2 GPSBabel.exe, but it
seems this one can't be started through cygwin
