Hi! I have a Garmin Foretrex 201 (firmware 2.70). I have tried it several ways: 1. On linux, ubuntu 7.04 (feisty), kernel 2.6.20, gpsbabel 1.3.2, ftdi-based serial-usb adapter (I have no real serial port on linux): $ sudo gpsbabel -D9 -i garmin -f /dev/ttyUSB0 -o gpx -F out.gpx Password: GPSBabel Version: 1.3.2 Tx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 : ...(PRDREQ ) Rx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 (PRDREQ ) GARMIN:Can't init /dev/ttyUSB0 2. On windows xp, gpsbabel 1.3.4, real serial port (com2): gpsbabel.exe -D9 -i garmin -f com2: -o gpx -F out.gpx GPSBabel Version: 1.3.4 Opening com2: Tx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 : ...(PRDREQ ) Rx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 (PRDREQ ) GARMIN:Can't init /dev/ttyUSB0 3. On windows xp, gpsbabel 1.3.4, ftdi-based serail-usb adapter (com3): gpsbabel.exe -D9 -i garmin -f com3: -o gpx -F out.gpx GPSBabel Version: 1.3.4 Opening com3: Tx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 : ...(PRDREQ ) Rx Data:10 fe 00 02 10 03 (PRDREQ ) GARMIN:Can't init /dev/ttyUSB0 The only encouraging sign I get are the blinking communication leds for both directions on the serial-usb adapter, and that the gps unit turns on when I plug in the adapter to the computer. Please help me getting downloading work. I tried to give as much information, as I can, but feel free to ask me any other. Thanks:Andras |
