The format you use will have a big impact on the perf you see. Also, depending on your usage requirements, Pixel Buffer Objects (PBOs) may be an appropriate optimization to achieve asynchronous, pipelined readbacks. Traditional glReadPixels always implies an glFinish(); PBO removes this necessity allowing for better CPU/GPU overlap. - nick carter / NVIDIA |
