In fixed function pipe language, GL_NORMAL_MAP texgen mode is useful=20 for image based diffuse lighting, and GL_REFLECTION_MAP texgen mode=20 is useful for specular lighting. Note that the really interesting applications happen when you start=20 solving BRDFs by taking various angle look-ups into effect, and also=20 when you can compress the "image" function into some small, efficient=20 space, such as with a spherical harmonics environment. Image based lighting is a fairly simple and general idea/area; I=20 find that all of the interesting stuff is in various implementation=20 details and specific ideas that use or fall into this area. Subject: [Algorithms] HDR IBL clarification howdy all. I've been looking over the Image Based Lighting specs, and from what I = can tell, seems pretty simple. Essencially, isn't it a Cube map added = onto a mesh with some texture hightlights, or am I missing something? ~Main =3D=3D=20 Colt "MainRoach" McAnlis=20 Programmer=20 http://www.badheat.com=20 MSN 8 helps ELIMINATE E-MAIL VIRUSES.
