The init file for SuSE _is_ available in CVS:

However, I didn't have time to look into how it gets used (if at all).

I have been quite busy but this seems like an easy enough fix, so I may =
take a stab at it.  But if somebody knows how the SuSE specific init =
script is supposed to be included in the tarball, please let me know.

Does SuSE support the Linux Standards Base Specification?  One
possibility that might make the same ganglia init scripts work on any
distribution is to modify them to use /lib/lsb/init-functions instead.
