Hi! For backup purposes I intend to use an encrypted (dm-crypt) container file on a remote system to keep the data securely. For executing a backup I would do the following steps: 1) connect to the remote system via SSHFS, 2) mount the encrypted container file, 3) backup my data (use rsync for example) and 4) unmount the container file afterwards. All data will be kept private because the remote container is encrypted and the transport is encrypted too (SSHFS). I did a few tests and the scenario seems to work. (The connection hangs once but I am not sure of the cause) I would like to know your ideas on this setup. Are there any drawbacks, related projects, or relevant options in SSHFS for tuning?
